Bike ride around the lake

The cycling path, offering stunning views of the lake.

The cycling path along the lake is one of the most beautiful cycling paths in France. It’s the perfect activity for a family outing, combining light exercise, safety, and breathtaking scenery.

The loop around Lake Annecy by bike is approximately 37 km, but you don’t have to complete the entire route. There are plenty of options to adjust the distance according to everyone’s level, with easily accessible starting points such as Annecy, Sévrier, or Talloires. Rental shops offer bikes suited for children, trailers for the little ones, or even electric bikes to make the ride easier.

Throughout the route, you’ll find rest areas, picnic spots by the water, and stunning viewpoints of the surrounding mountains. It’s also a great opportunity to stop for an artisanal ice cream or take a spontaneous visit to a charming little port.

Easy hikes at Semnoz or Mont Veyrier

Lake view from Mont Veyrier

Want to get higher? Annecy is surrounded by mountains that are full of easy hiking trails, perfect for families.

Semnoz is perfect for a first hike. Accessible by car or shuttle from the city center, it offers short loops with minimal elevation gain, crossing meadows, forests, and ridges with exceptional panoramic views. Your kids might spot some marmots or herds of cows, adding a fun and interactive element to the hike.

Mont Veyrier, on the other hand, offers a slightly more challenging hike, but it’s perfectly doable with children aged 8 and up. Starting from Annecy-le-Vieux, you’ll climb through the forest before reaching breathtaking views of the city, the lake, and the peaks of the Mont-Blanc massif.

The Jardin de l'Europe, Le Pâquier, and Albigny

Le Pâquier, perfect for a lakeside walk.

These two spots are perfect for a family nature break and relaxation. The Jardin de l'Europe, with its shaded paths, century-old trees, and peaceful benches, is an ideal place for a leisurely stroll. Children can observe the ducks, play by the fountains, or run freely in the open space.

Right next door, the Pâquier is a vast stretch of lawn by the lake. You can fly a kite, ride a bike, play ball, or simply lie down and enjoy the view. The atmosphere is lively, joyful, and local: families, athletes, street musicians—everyone gathers here.

When it’s hot, head to the Albigny beach in Annecy-le-Vieux, just next to Le Pâquier. One of the largest and most popular beaches, it’s perfect for families. With its vast lawn, it offers plenty of space to lay down a towel, take a nap in the shade of a tree, or have a picnic. For the kids, there are several amenities: a playground, slides, shallow swimming areas, and even a lifeguard station ensuring optimal safety.

It’s a true heart of life for families in Annecy, with easy access, immediate proximity to the city center, and that always-magical view of the lake.

Visit the city center and the old town

Old town.

A trip to Annecy wouldn’t be complete without a stroll through its historic center, a true living postcard. The cobbled streets, flower-lined canals, colorful facades, and lively markets make the old town an enchanting place for the whole family.

Discover the Palais de l'Isle, a symbol of Annecy, located on an island in the middle of the canal. It's a quick but impressive visit, especially for children interested in history. Continue on to Annecy Castle, perched on the heights of the city, where stunning views and a fun museum await.

For a sweet break, there is no shortage of artisan ice cream shops, creperies, and tea rooms. The small souvenir shops and regional product stores (cheeses, sausages, local jams) further enhance the charm of the area.

Admire the view from Col de la Forclaz

To end your stay on a high note, head to Col de la Forclaz, one of the most beautiful viewpoints overlooking Lake Annecy. Easily accessible by car, it’s the perfect spot for a family outing, especially if you're a fan of spectacular panoramas.

It’s one of the favorite spots for paragliders, and your kids will be fascinated watching them take off and soar overhead. A truly awe-inspiring activity for all ages.

Around the pass, several easy hiking trails are available for a short walk in nature. Picnic tables are also provided if you'd like to have lunch with a view.

And for the more adventurous, why not try a tandem paragliding flight? Many local schools offer this experience for children as young as 6 or 7 years old.
